floater asked me to record/mix their new album.
it is the 10th album that they have released.
it is quite fitting that it is a live album.
we multi-track recorded over the course of two sold out nights at a 500 person venue in in eugene. the crowd was on fire.
this venue, the wow hall, was the birthplace of large crowds for floater many moons ago. a lot of history and sentiment is associated.
with my co-engineer/producer peter cornett by my side, we took the 5+ hours of raw material and edited/mixed/eq'd it down to a wonderfully intimate 53 minute live acoustic concert experience.
the final result is magical.
you can listen to a track on www.floater.com (possum's funeral) see player top right of page.
i have produced, recorded and mixed several albums before for my bands....brownhouse, sunset-red, treebender, but never a grammy nominated group that produces actual art with their instruments.
and.......i never got paid before either!! HA!
Floater - Live at the Wow comes out May 20.
i'm sure that we will have copies with us on the spring tour.
see you out there.
